NAGW Completes Successful Annual National Conference

October 2, 2008. St. Charles, Illinois - The National Association of Government Webmasters (NAGW) has completed its 2008 Annual Conference, bringing together more than 200 attendees from 36 states. The conference, held in St. Charles, Illinois, from September 10 -12, also drew international attention with attendees from Canada and exhibitors from Ireland, the Netherlands, and Switzerland, along with a dozen other web technology companies from the United States.

The Annual Conference, targeted towards city, county, and municipal web professionals, offered more than twenty sessions on a variety of topics, including Emergency Management on the Web, website accessibility, web design and programming, and more.

Joe Rotella, Chief Technical Officer for Delphia Consulting, one of the conference's Title Sponsors, gave a high energy opening keynote on making citizens the focus of government websites. Representatives from Adobe, another Title Sponsor, taught several sessions on products that have a significant impact on web developers: Photoshop, InDesign, and the pending release of Creative Suite 4 (CS4).

"NAGW is a great peer to peer source of information and support for web related challenges", said Jay Eason, MIS Officer for the City of Ankeny, IA, and an attendee of this year's conference. "The conferences I've attended in Reno, Valley Forge, and St Charles have all been excellent for content and networking. I look forward to attending now each year.

Another invaluable resource is the daily topics that come up on the membership listserve. I learn new things and find resources every week that help me in my job."

"The focus of NAGW," commented Chris Audano, President of the organization, "is to offer solutions and support to local government webmasters who, in many instances, don't have the resources available to larger governmental entities. Many of our topics center on doing more with less, which is especially important considering the current economic situation."

NAGW has already announced the location and dates of the 2009 Annual Conference, which is to be held in Galveston, Texas, September 16 - 18, 2009. NAGW currently has a membership of over 400 professionals from across the country. While membership is restricted to city, county, and municipal organizations, attendance at the Annual Conference is open to any interested person, including private sector professionals.
