FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF GOVERNMENT WEBMASTERS 2008 NATIONAL CONFERENCE TO BE HELD IN SEPTEMBER

April 25, 2008.  St. Charles, Illinois.  Registration is now open for the National Association of Government Webmasters (NAGW) Annual Conference.  It will be held at the Pheasant Run Resort and Spa in St. Charles, IL from September 10-12.

This conference, held annually for city and county web professionals, includes 22 sessions covering a wide variety of government and web-related topics.  Eight four-hour, hands-on, in-depth pre-conference sessions will be held on Tuesday September 9, 2008.  Registration information, topics and membership information are available on www.NAGW.org.

“Our conference provides a way for local government web professionals to share knowledge, ideas, resources plus a way to meet and network with others who have similar positions,” said Chris Audano, NAGW President and Midwest Region Director. She added “Our sessions are taught by web professionals, for web professionals.  Local webmasters gain knowledge in the technical aspects of web design as well as government-specific web issues.”

Conference chair and Board of Directors member Ron Pringle (Lakes Region) noted “NAGW Board members are all volunteers.  We work hard to make this conference affordable to small towns and cities that would not otherwise be able to afford training for their webmasters.  Some of our topics include Emergency Management on the Web, Making your Website Accessible, Microformats, Designing CSS Layouts for the Flexible Web, and Government Websites on a Zero-Dollar Budget.”

“We’re excited about our sixth conference!  We’ve had great reviews from attendees, and this looks to be our best conference yet,” added Carol A. Spencer, Treasurer and Northeast Region Director.

Audano is Senior Programmer Analyst for the City of Overland Park, KS. Pringle is the Web Developer for Aurora, IL. Spencer is an Information Technology Special Projects Manager for Morris County, NJ.  The NAGW Board is made up of representatives from nine regions across the US, including Nicole Maillet (East Region), Senior Webmaster for Chesterfield County, VA; April Odom (South Region), Webmaster for Birmingham, AL; Chris Reed (Gulf Region), Web Applications Supervisor for the City of Lubbock, Texas; Susan Christophersen (Mountain Region) Web Coordinator for Boulder County, CO; Chris Matthews (West Region) e-Government Information Officer for Washoe County, NV and Matt Harrington (Northwest Region) Graphic and Web Specialist for the City of Albany, OR.

NAGW’s mission is to serve its members through national conferences, networking, as well as professional resource and information sharing. The organization’s focus is specifically the interests and concerns of local government webmasters.
