Date: Thursday, August 26, 2010
Time: 12:00 PM CST
Length: 60 minutes
Presented by Dustin Haisler, City of Manor, Texas
The City of Manor, Texas, may have a population of only 6,500, but they have gained national recognition from places such as the White House for their innovative use of web technologies for better government. Learn how Manor launched a new effort to crowdsource innovation via a web-based tool called called Manor Labs. Manor is also one of the few US cities currently using bar codes (known as QR or Quick Response Codes) to label physical locations around town. The codes can be scanned with a mobile phone to point to a webpage that communicates historical and touristic information, data about the cost of a municipal projects, or emergency management information. This webinar will be led by Manor CIO Dustin Haisler, who was recently featured on the cover of Government Technology magazine for his visionary work.
