Announcing the 2016 Pinnacle Award Winners

Frankie Rios and Leslie LabrecqueThe National Association of Government Web Professionals (NAGW) announced its annual Pinnacle Award winners at the organization’s 2016 conference in San Antonio, Texas. NAGW Secretary and East Region Director Barbara Belli made the announcement during the awards banquet held September 22 at the Wyndham San Antonio Riverwalk hotel.
 
The Pinnacle Awards celebrate excellence in government web design and innovation,” said NAGW President Leslie Labrecque.” The entrants do extraordinary work with limited budgets and resources. NAGW congratulates all of the winners on their outstanding work that truly serves their communities.
 
Pinnacles Awards are judged by a group of web professionals within and outside of the government web industry and are awarded to the best entries based on the following judging criteria: team size, content, organization, design, performance and flexibility, accessibility standards, and interactivity.
 
Awards were presented this year in each of three population categories for cities and counties as well as a Pinnacle award for microsites and special site features.

Jeffrey Zeldman to present opening keynote at NAGW’s 2011 national conference

Jeffrey ZeldmanThe National Association of Government Webmasters (NAGW) is proud to announce that Jeffrey Zeldman will be the Opening Keynote Speaker at NAGW’s 2011 National Conference. This year’s conference is being held at the historic Hilton Netherland Plaza in Cincinnati, Ohio September 14–16. This four star art deco hotel located in the heart of downtown Cincinnati will be host to the country’s only conference created specifically for local and state government webmasters.

Zeldman, dubbed the “King of Web Standards” by Business Week, is the founder and executive creative director of web design agency Happy Cog and author of Designing With Web Standards. Jeffrey also co-founded and directed The Web Standards Project (WaSP), a grassroots coalition which advocates standards to ensure simple, affordable access to web technologies for all.

NAGW welcomes Molly Holzschlag back as a special guest speaker at 2011 conference

Molly HolzschlagThe National Association of Government Webmasters (NAGW) is excited to welcome Molly Holzschlag back as a special guest speaker at NAGW’s 2011 National Conference. This year’s conference is being held at the historic Hilton Netherland Plaza in Cincinnati, Ohio September 14–16. This four star art deco hotel located in the heart of downtown Cincinnati will be host to the country’s only conference created specifically for local and state government webmasters.

Holzschlag, noted author, web maven and web evangelist, presented the keynote at last year’s conference. Ron Pringle, NAGW’s president, said “We’re very happy and honored to have Molly back for the second year in a row. NAGW prides itself on presenting forward-thinking material at our conferences, and Molly’s sessions on HTML5 and CSS3 will do just that.”

Content strategy expert Kristina Halvorson to present keynote at NAGW’s 2011 national conference

The National Association of Government Webmasters (NAGW) welcomes noted content strategy expert Kristina Halvorson as one of this year’s keynote speakers at NAGW’s 2011 National Conference. This year’s conference is being held at the historic Hilton Netherland Plaza in Cincinnati, Ohio September 14–16. This four star art deco hotel located in the heart of downtown Cincinnati will be host to the country’s only conference created specifically for local and state government webmasters.

Halvorson is founder and CEO of Brain Traffic, a world-renowned content strategy consultancy, and author of Content Strategy For The Web. She is widely recognized as the industry’s leading advocate for content strategy. “Considering that government websites are so content driven, it made sense for us to seek out a speaker on the topic.” said Ron Pringle, NAGW’s president. “And who better to have speak on content strategy than the person who wrote the book on it?”

Halvorson, who has been described as enthusiastic, articulate and funny, will be presenting her keynote on the second day of the conference, Thursday, September 15.

Rotella, Chief Technical Officer for Delphia Consulting, and a noted expert on web user experience and design and social media, has spoken at previous NAGW conferences, including as a keynote speaker in 2009. “With his high energy and inspiring enthusiasm, Joe is a favorite among NAGW conference attendees and we’re happy to have him return as one of our keynote speakers” said Ron Pringle, NAGW's President.
