The NAGW Board of Directors held elections for officers during a special board meeting on Tuesday, November 1. Our new officers are as follows:

  • President: Leslie Labrecque (At Large Director)
  • Treasurer: Jay Eason (At Large Director)
  • Secretary: Barbara Belli (East Region Director)

New Membership Options Now Available

NAGW is excited to offer a new membership option for multiple agency memberships! By purchasing multiple memberships at one time agencies receive a discount. Multiple agency memberships are available for any size, eligible organization and these memberships are transferable within the agency for the remaining duration of the membership. The types of multiple agency memberships are as follows:

  • Small agency (3/5 memberships: full or associate): $350 (save $25)
  • Large agency (3/5 memberships: full or associate): $575 (save $50)

In late 2015 the NAGW membership voted to extend full membership to state agencies and associate membership to federal employees. These changes are now active and eligible agencies may join at their convenience. The cost of membership is $125 annually. Please note that individual memberships are non-transferable. Join NAGW >>

NAGW Bylaws Vote Results

Voting has closed for the proposed bylaws change. With the majority of the members voting in favor, the motion to expand Full membership to State Government Employees (SGE) and extend Associate membership to Federal Government Employees (FGE) passes. In addition to Local Government Employees, SGEs can now serve on the NAGW Board of Directors, but only serve in the 2 At-Large positions (FGEs are not eligible). The results of this vote and the number of votes each item received are as follows:

NAGW Introduces Steve Moore Pinnacle Award for Excellence

Steve MooreThe National Association of Government Web Professionals is proud to announce the Steven Michael Moore Pinnacle Award for excellence in a government web profession. The award is the first of its kind and is intended to embody the legacy of our friend and colleague who passed away January 29, 2015. The award will be presented annually.

Steve Moore worked 37 years in the information technology field with the last 35 years at Larimer County, Colorado. Steve brought Larimer online in 1996 with the creation of Larimer.org, ultimately developing the site into a 2008 NAGW Pinnacle Award winner.

Steve represents what's best about our community. This award honors his legacy and selfless commitment to the profession and to his colleagues. The recipient of this award should exemplify these qualities, regardless of his/her years of service or area of specialization.

Tim O’Reilly is the founder and CEO of O’Reilly Media Inc. His original business plan was simply "interesting work for interesting people," and that's worked out pretty well. He publishes books, runs conferences, invests in early-stage startups, urges companies to create more value than they capture, and tries to change the world by spreading and amplifying the knowledge of innovators.

NAGW Announces 2015 Keynote Speakers

The National Association of Government Web Professionals (NAGW) announces a lineup of celebrated keynote speakers for the organization’s 2015 national conference to be held September 22-25 at the Hyatt Regency in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Rachel AndrewRachel Andrew is founder and managing director of the UK-based software company edgeofmyseat.com, whose flagship product is the Perch CMS. She has more than 16 years of web development experience and is a successful author of numerous articles and two self-published books – The Profitable Side Project Handbook and CSS3 Layout Modules (now in its second edition).

 

Alan SharkDr. Alan Shark is Executive Director and CEO of Public Technology Institute (PTI), a national organization which focuses on technology issues that impact local government and thought-leaders in the public sector. He is the recipient of the prestigious 2012 National Technology Champion Award from the National Association of State Chief Information Officers and the author of 7 Trends That Will Transform Local Government Through Technology (2012) and co-author of the book Web 2.0 Civic Media in Action (2011).

 

Abhi NemaniAbhi Nemani became Chief Data Officer for the City of Los Angeles in September of 2014. He is a former Code for America (CfA) co-director who led the organization’s strategic development and growth through multiple new programs, including the launch of a first-of-its-kind civic startup accelerator and the CfA Peer Network, designed to connect cities to help them work together. Prior to CfA, Abhi managed multiple research teams at the Rose Institute to increase transparency in local government using technology, and with Google, he pioneered an innovative strategy to leverage social media for consumer engagement.

2015 and 2016 NAGW Conference Locations Announced

The National Association of Government Web Professionals (NAGW), the leading organization for local government web professionals, announced at its 2014 National Conference in St. Paul, MN, the locations of its upcoming annual conferences.

During the conference, Marc Drummond, NAGW President, announced to the more than 215 attendees that the location of the 2015 NAGW National Conference will be Albuquerque, NM from Sept. 22–25 at the Downtown Hyatt.

As a special surprise, the 2016 NAGW National Conference location was announced as San Antonio, TX from Sept. 20–23 at the Wyndham Riverwalk.

2014 NAGW Pinnacle Award Winners Announced

Barbara Belli Hosting #NAGW2014The National Association of Government Web Professionals (NAGW), the leading organization for local government web professionals, announced its annual Pinnacle Award winners at the 2014 conference in St. Paul, MN, Sept. 11, 2014.

Marc Drummond, NAGW board president, made the announcement Thursday evening at the Crowne Plaza St. Paul Riverfront Hotel. “The Pinnacle Awards celebrates excellence. Our NAGW members do tremendous work with limited resources. Our judges are continually impressed at the level of quality displayed by all of our entries. We are proud to honor these sites which demonstrate the high caliber work carried out by government web professionals throughout the country.” he said.
