Navigating the New ADA Title II Rule on Web and Mobile App Accessibility: Insights for State and Local Governments
On April 24, 2024, the Department of Justice (DOJ) published a final rule under Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) to ensure the accessibility of web content and mobile applications (apps) for people with disabilities. This final rule adopts the June 2018 version of WCAG 2.1, Level AA as the technical standard for accessibility of state and local governments’ services, programs, and activities offered via the web and mobile apps. In this webinar, the DOJ will provide an overview of the legal requirements, exceptions, and compliance deadlines under the final rule.
Before the session, attendees are encouraged to review the DOJ Fact Sheet as well as the Small Entity Compliance Guide for background information on the rule.
We also invite you to submit any questions you have for the DOJ representative using this link: Submit Your Questions.
Presenter: Rebecca Guterman, Attorney Advisor, Disability Rights Section, U.S. Department of Justice Civil Rights Division
